ceen: the events we want

Ceen is about bringing us all back to basics: rolling with real people in real life, not scrolling around online. Here we answer some basic questions, and welcome your questions.

<who> is ceen for and against?

We're against the faceless attention economy and monetization of personal data.

We're for physical spaces and people who put on a good scene: parks and their events, gyms and their trainers, cumbia-punk venues and their musicians, community groups and their volunteers. These are our customers. They might have low 'valuation' by certain Silicon Valley standards, but they deliver multidimensional value to their communities and beyond.

We're building for their neighbors and supporters who would turn up more if they could discover the event more easily, or never have to track the actual date.

We're building it partly for ourselves, namely to save ourselves :).

We're a community platform to help events pop with more foot traffic and turnout, starting in Oakland, California. We put movement, music, and community culture on the map....literally. <where> does this work?

Ceen works everywhere that people are lonely or stuck online. As urban planners and technologists we have a sense of how physical isolation and digital loneliness got so intense. Join us as we chip away at the foundations of nasty structures!

<why> is ceen important now?

Real community could be a matter of our shared survival, amidst tech-induced ideological fragmentation and echo chambers. So stop burning ungodly quantities of energy and water talking with AI, or having AI serve you ads. Hop on ceen.live for 2 minutes, and then pop out into the world.

<how> does it work?

You load an event or two on ceen.live. Then, we monitor for quality and trust, connect with the host, and then post. All of us build communities and visibility to help people turn up to those events.

"But what about the money?" Ah, yes, the first event or two at a venue happens through nonmonetary barter ;). Paid offerings include packages of additional event posts on the map, analytics, wraparound marketing, and partnership programs. We aim to lower Customer Acquisition Costs (CAC), increase LifeTime Value (LTV), and earn a bit of the difference so we can grow more from customer investment than from large venture.
