designing for fresh habits

Ceen's designed for fresh habits that make us feel good. Because we all mix good and bad habits:

  • Yes! I made the bed!
  • No, I ate peanut butter from the jar while scrolling my phone, instead of architecting a snack.
  • Yes: when we're hanging out in real life, my phone's tucked away in my bag.
  • NooOooO: I felt tired so I fell into my phone for an hour. Now I'm exhausted.

Now that less than half of insta/facebook content comes from people we know in real life, it's time to change our screen habits. Ceen and real scenes connect you with real social circles and loose community networks.

As we get back to real life scenes, here are a couple habits where ceen.live can help.

New Habit: Meet up with minimal planning and stress

  • They live far away, so you find a spot in the middle. Your budget's tight, so you don't wanna default to an expensive restaurant.
  • Find a couple events you like at ceen.live, and text a friend or two.
  • Once y'all agree to meet up, text a few more friends. “The more the merrier” is so easy when you’re out in public in a good scene that's free or cheap-ish.

New Habit: you can’t do your planned thing, so you find a substitute to keep the habit and vibe moving

  • Our capoeira studio in Fruitvale is my favorite thing. But between injuries and the BART trip I don't always make it.
  • So Monday, Tuesday and Thursday (Capoeira days) I hit up a gym, a free park class...or honestly just run the lake.
  • I get way more from my Touchstone gym membership because I just hit the classes posted on ceen.live. No logistics overload. Starting to kinda make gym friends cuz I go at the same time every day.

New Habit: when you head into your phone by accident, take a breath and check Ceen first.

  • If you're gonna be on your phone, might as well have it connect to your real life.
  • See what’s nearby.
  • Make a plan to go, message the host on instagram or scout the location on GoogleMaps, and text with a friend. Just telling a friend you're going boosts follow—through 65%, regardless of whether they join.
  • Get comfortable going out solo without being on your phone — you can end up feeling like a badass, a maven, a sweet member of something bigger, a little proud of yourself for doing something uncomfortable.

I have a million tips if you want (sketchbook, key question, rejection expectations. My friends couldn’t come but I still wanted to.) this is actually how I got my most recent rad job.

We design Ceen for low overall screen time, but we want it to be habitual and easy for you. We want you to use ceen.live quickly…and then leave quickly! Cuz there’s real life community and events to be lived!

Message me if you have other habits or "Refuse the Screen" hacks and I’ll feature them in future blogs! Comment LinkedIn or Instagram, or write lucy@ceen.live. Lemme know if you want a shoutout or anonymity ;).

Onwards and outwards we go!
Lucy
